211 Non-Emergency Helpline - New Jersey residents in need of health and human services, community resources and governmental assistance are now just a three-digit telephone call away form the information they need. All they have to do is pickup a telephone and dial 2-1-1. The service is available 24 hours a day, confidential, multilingual and accessible to the hearing impaired.

Alternatives to Domestic Violence - Alternatives to Domestic Violence (ADV) is a division of the Bergen County Department of Human Services, which is exclusively devoted to domestic violence intervention. ADV offers a full range of specialized services including crisis intervention, counseling, legal advocacy and assistance, court appearance preparation, court accompaniment, individual, group, and family counseling, information and referral to other needed services, community education, and professional training. Bergen County Cancer Resources - The New Jersey Cancer Education and Early Detection Screening Program (NJCEED) is part of the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services. NJCEED provides comprehensive screening services for breast, cervical, prostate, and colorectal cancer.

Bergen County Department of Health Services - Links to state and local information, area hospitals, and special sections on topics such as West Nile Virus and Lyme Disease.  Bioterrorism and disaster information are highlighted.

Child Health Program - The mission of Special Child Health Services is to enhance the capacity of families to meet the developmental and health related needs of children birth to age 21 who have delays or disabilities by providing education and support services.

Community Mental Health System - The Bergen County Community Mental Health System is composed of four comprehensive mental health agencies and several specialized agencies. They are private, non-profit facilities that receive a combination of public and private funding.

Community Transportation - The Division is here to provide a safe, trouble-free, scheduled transportation system for the disabled, elderly, and frail residents of Bergen County .

Disability Services - The Division assists Bergen County residents with disabilities to achieve their full potential, to realize their full involvement and/or inclusion in all aspects of everyday living, and to promote community-based living options. See their resources page.

Environmental Health Program - The Environmental Health Program serves the entire county as the environmental protection arm of the NJ DEP, and as such, provides environmental enforcement, environmental education and the provision of regulatory compliance services for county government. Programs focus on air, water and noise pollution, hazardous waste, emergency response, solid waste, pesticides and underground storage tanks.

Family Guidance - The mission of the Division of Family Guidance is to enhance the well-being of at-risk Bergen County youths and their families and to improve their functioning in the community by providing a full-range of mental health, educational and correctional services.

NJ Division of Mental Health Designated Psychiatric/Crisis Screening Centers - Contains a listing by county of the designated psychiatric centers.

NJHelps - NJHelps is a free and easy way for you to prescreen for 8 programs that are available to help you and your family. NJHelps is private, we do not ask who you are and we do not share your information with anyone. NJHelps will tell you where to go for help and what to bring with you, after you have answered all the questions.

Occupational Health - This office deals with illnesses caused by your job.

Office of Alcohol and Drug Dependency - The Office of Alcohol and Drug Dependency is responsible for planning and programs for the treatment and rehabilitation of persons with alcohol and drug dependency problems. Referrals to substance abuse treatment for adolescents and adults are given on a routine basis.

Office for Children - The mission of the Office for Children is to strengthen and coordinate child care services in Bergen County and provide a voice for children. Services focus on availability, affordability and quality of child care. See their resources page.

Promoting Health: Partnering with the Community for a Healthier County - The Office of Health Promotion addresses the essential public health services by informing, educating and empowering people about health issues, linking people to needed personal health services, and mobilizing community partnerships to identify and solve health problems.

Senior Care Center - The county health department s Senior Care Center, located in Paramus, provides a safe environment for clients age 55 and older who need structured daytime activities. The center provides social day care under the guidance of specially trained personnel. Clients form new friendships and socialize with peers while participating in stimulating and creative activities. Clients are frail, have early stage Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias, visual and/or hearing impairment and Parkinson’s disease.

Senior Services - The Bergen County Division of Senior Services was established in 1966 with a mission to serve as an advocate for older adults. It is a planning, coordinating and funding agency for senior programs and services.

Veterans Services - To advise resident veterans and their dependents of benefits earned through honorable active duty in the U.S. Military, and to provide them assistance in the application process, and in addition, to maintain a list of available jobs for veterans seeking employment.
