CARES Institute - The Center is
the only dedicated diagnostic and treatment center for
children suspected of maltreatment serving the seven
southern counties of New Jersey (Camden, Burlington,
Gloucester, Atlantic, Cumberland, Salem and Cape May).

Deirdre's
House - The Center for children in Morris
County who have suffered abuse, neglect or witnessed
domestic violence. Established in 1994, the Deirdre's
House is the only site in Morris County were a child
victim under age of 12 can be interviewed and videotaped
by law enforcement, medically examined and treated by
a pediatric abuse specialist, prepared for trial, and
clinically counseled----all under one roof.
Division of Youth and Family Services - This

How
and When to Report Child Abuse and Neglect - In
New Jersey, any person having reasonable cause to believe
that a child has been subjected to abuse or acts of
abuse should immediately report this information to
the State Central Registry (SCR).

NJ Safe Haven - In New Jersey, the Safe Haven Infant
Protection Act allows an individual to give up an unwanted
infant with no fear of arrest or prosecution. No names
or records are required. The parents — or someone
acting on their behalf — can bring a baby less
than 30 days old to any hospital emergency room or
police station. The Division of Youth and Family Services
will immediately take the child into custody and place
the infant in a foster or pre-adoptive home.
NJ Self-Help Group Clearinghouse - Assists people in finding, forming and learning about self-help support
groups at local, national and Internet levels. Has toll-free helpine and
publishes an annual Self-Help Group Directory, which can be found at
most public libraries.
PEI Kids - A non-profit organization that provides an array of services to children and their families throughout Mercer County, offers both prevention and intervention child abuse programs. PEI Kids offers prevention programs in the Mercer County schools including NJ CAP (Child Assault Prevention) program and “No More Bullies, No More Victims” program. Counseling, both one on and group sessions, is available to child victims of sexual abuse and their families.
